Portable generator hookup and inlet installation adds a proper connection point that lets you safely power your home from a portable generator during an outage – without running extension cords through windows or risking backfeeding power into utility lines, which is dangerous for utility workers and against code.
We install these for Omaha, NE homeowners who already own or are planning to buy a portable generator and want a safe, code-compliant way to connect it to their home's electrical system, rather than relying on extension cords for a handful of appliances.
We install a power inlet box on the exterior of your home, wired to a manual transfer switch inside that lets you select which circuits draw power from the generator. This setup keeps your home's circuits properly isolated from the utility grid while running on generator power, preventing backfeed issues entirely. We size the transfer switch to match your portable generator's output capacity, so you know exactly what it can handle without overloading the unit.
Cost depends on the transfer switch size, how many circuits you want covered, and the distance from the inlet to your panel.
