Generator sizing and load assessment is the calculation work that determines what generator size you actually need – done before any installation, since an undersized generator won't handle your power demands and an oversized one wastes money on capacity you'll never use.
We provide this for Omaha, NE homeowners and business owners planning a generator installation who want the sizing done correctly rather than guessed at. This also comes up when someone's existing generator isn't handling their load properly, or when a home or business has added electrical demand since a generator was last sized – a new HVAC system, an addition, or added equipment.
We calculate your total electrical load by reviewing your panel, identifying every circuit and its typical draw, and factoring in starting loads for equipment like HVAC compressors that draw significantly more power when starting up than running. We account for whether you want essential-circuit coverage or whole-property coverage, since that changes the sizing calculation substantially. The result is a clear recommendation for generator capacity that matches your actual needs, not a generic estimate.
This assessment is typically included as part of a generator installation project, or available as a standalone service if you're evaluating your options.
